The course I play with some regularity has a grave yard between the 10th and 11th fairways. I was wondering what the ruling was for a ball in the grave yard. BTW- the grave yard is fenced off

The best thing to do is ask pro in clubhouse. It might even be mentioned on the scorecard. I would think since it's fenced it that it's either considered OB or a free drop, but you should ask to know for sure. I know a course I play has 3 very old graves on one hole and it's a free drop outside that area.

To me, the ball is clearly out of bounds, and rules concerning OB would apply. Additionally I would believe that you should find the appropriate access point and respectfully remove your ball.

I'm with merlin2driver, but I'd like to go a step further. I'm not 100% certain I could play a course like that. It would just be too spooky, especially since I tend to race twilight a lot to get my round in.

A golf course with a graveyard? That's epic!
I agree with Merlin, OB and remove the ball.

The course is Bay Hills in Arnold, MD the graveyard is ten yards off the fairway on 10 the only par 5 and if you lose your second shot to the left it is very much in play. If we get a break from the rain this week I will be playing there and will ask the pro what the club ruling is since it is not marked by any stakes.

There may not be any white stakes, but to me, any fence is a boundary line. What are your thoughts ? How would you play it ? I'm just thinking how I'd act, if it were my family buried there.

Sorry, gang. This is just creepy, deciding the correct ruling on how to play out of a GRAVEYARD!.
Next we'll be coming up with GAMBLING GAMES.
SPOOKY SPOOKY.

I have to mention...if I'm playing at twilight and accidentally hit an errant shot into the graveyard, I'm NOT going to retrieve it. I'm not superstitious...and I don't believe in the supernatural. However, I don't like to take chances, either. I think I'd be more afraid of a bird suddenly chirping or something. I have nerves of noodles, and I have a feeling I'd be quite high strung while peering around the tombstone of a late Mrs. Leona Goodenberry looking for my stray ball. If the guy hitting behind me hit a shot within 30 yards of where I was looking, you might not be able to get me out of the nearest tree until dawn.
