Does anyone use the black plastic tubes to separate your clubs in your bag? I'm thinking of getting some, just to reduce the *clank clank* when I'm walking with both shoulder straps on. Also makes it much easier to get the clubs back in the bag, which can be difficult at times..

There was a question about these on FranklyGolf.com a while back and Frank Thomas (equipment expert) is not a big believer in them as they can damage graphite shafts at the top. A better option (not to mention better looking option) is to find a bag with the dividers built in. Some, such as the Sun Mountain and Ogio bags, are still very lightweight carrybags, plus these are actually going to have padded seperators to help protect clubs and help keep them from banging together as much. This option is a little more expensive, but you (and your clubs) will be happier in the long run.

Mine already has plenty of dividers, but not so many that I don't need to put two clubs in each hole.
Though I do want

I bought some neoprene iron head covers and it makes the walk MUCH quieter. They didn't help getting clubs in/out of the bad, but I don't have too much trouble with that. The only problem I've found is that the head covers come off a bit too easy and there is no string or anything to keep them together. I lost the 5-iron cover on the first round ... and sadly, the rest have remained in the pocket in my bag. I am thinking about attaching them to each other with a strap/strong/rope/tie so it they come off, at least I don't lose them.

I use these and love them. I take the club out, remove cover and put it in my pocket, make the stroke, clean club, put cover on, put in bag. This way even if you forget to put the cover on, you don't loose it.

It must be my clubs then, as I did exactly as you described. After a few holes of play, I pulled a club and noticed the 5-iron cover was missing .... it fell off or rubbed off or something while I was walking. So, I thought I should come up with some way to tie them all together, so if they did fall off, at least I wouldn't lose it!
(I just realized that I should check in the bottom of my bag for the missing cover .......!)

These type of dividers have damaged my clubs. I have removed them and put up with the clanking.

I'm curious to know how they damaged them?
I'm also looking into buying some due to the fact that I'm tired of the shafts tangling together in the bottom of the baq. I've heard that Austad's Golf carries them, though I wasn't able to find them on their website.

Tubes and covers are for amateurs. Metal heads are like wood, they get de-stressed with contact. Unless your banging them super hard and carelessly, they will be fine.

For me, it's more about the club shafts tangling at the bottom of the bag.

Where the shafts contact the top edge of the tube the finish and some graphite material has worn away, especially my driver. If the tubes had some kind of soft material such as felt on the top this would not happen. I also purchased tubes to keep the clubs from tangling at the bottom.
