So today was the day. Time to give in and finally find out what I should be hitting off the tee. I went to my favorite place, Miles of golf. I highly recommend this place to anyone for hitting and instruction or just a good range to hit at.

I went in with an open mind, meaning I didn't have specific shafts and clubs that I felt would make me hit further and straighter. Brandon was my specialist today. He was great as far explaining what was going to happen and how everything worked and what was relevant (to me, more distance and control)

First we looked at my old ignite driver. I set up, hit, and the numbers showed us what I already knew- too high of traj, high spin, and most of all a horrible landing angle. I was surprised at my club head speed (110-115) and ball speed (153.2)
I then began the hour long hitting of 12 different drivers and finally narrowing to the new Ping G10 and Callaway HyperX. After we narrowed it, we went back over my numbers and then I hit more with the drivers and just out of curiousity hit a couple over just "to make sure".

My final decision game to the Callaway. Just solid feel. I am awaiting a HyperX 8.5deg with VS Proto 80 Stiff shaft.
My final numbers-
Club head speed 110-115mph
Ball Speed 160.8 mph
Spin rate 2600-3100 (couple mis-hits)
Carry yards 260.0
Landing ankle 39degrees
Total length per drive 279 yards

According the monitor I should gain almost 30 yards/drive. Brandon said there will be a great change from my last driver and a chance of actually having a higher average of yards.

This was a great experience, I recommend it if you are willing to spend the extra money.

So has anyone else been on a Launch monitor before and how was your experience?

I have hit one a couple of times including when I bought my new driver.(Taylormade Burner)We have similar #'s on the monitor, I had too high of a launch angle with my r5 (around 14.5) now with the burner it is around 11. the burner is a 9.5 degree with stiff shaft. I enjoyed hitting on the monitor once I got used to about 10 people watching. I would reccomend it to anyone who wants to truly know what you should be swinging.

So you have a "Burner" too...Isn't it great? I have had mine for about 2 months and I love it. I am getting quite a few more yards than with my previous driver which was a Wilson Deep Red II. and straighter too. I won the closest to the hole prize yesterday hitting it to a 165 yard par 3 into a 25knot headwind. It was just a little poke about 60% swing but I believe in its accuracy more than any of my other clubs.

yea, I like it so far. You can hit it a long way so I struggle to keep from swingin out of my shoes LOL. The ball just screams off the face, much hotter than my r5. the r5 was more consistent but I've only played 4 or 5 rounds with the burner so I know that once I get dialed in its on. Very Happy
