Yeah, I'm gonna take some crap for posting this in the 'Hacks' forum, but hear me out:

I'm sick of him. He's INCREDIBLE. But everywhere you turn its Tiger this Tiger that. I want somebody else to win for a change! I just have a difficult time getting behind somebody that wins constantly. It just becomes no fun. It's like the Red Wings... I don't really have an issue with them, and they really are amazingly talented, but I'M SO SICK OF THEM. Thank god for the Penguins! Smile

You wont get any crap from me - i tend to agree. A couple of others I don't really care for that much are:

Colin Montgomerie
Rory Sabbatini
Hale Irwin

Okay enough negativity for me Wink

Tell some of the other pros to man up and beat Tiger then. The guy is the single greatest thing to ever happen to the PGA Tour. He does things that others just dream about. As a golfer and fan, how can you not love to watch him play? I don't even watch tournaments he's not in because nobody steps up. St Judes is a perfect example.

I dunno, I guess I just like to cheer for the underdog, not the same person who wins again and again and again...

There's nothing wrong with that at all.

Ya know, I really should qualify my statement about Tiger. He really is the best, he's on a different planet, and then there's everyone else - its almost unfair. I just get tired of hearing "Tiger this - Tiger that - Tiger - Tiger - Tiger" and then almost nothing about other players. I know he's a money maker for the broadcasters, it just seems there is so much coverage of the guy that we never get to really here much about other players that have great talent.

The other players I mentioned are great players as well, I just dont care much for some of the actions or things they've said while in tournamnets didn't seem very mature.

This basically sums it up:

Tiger is currently +1 at the US Open... tied for 9th... and the damn commentators are going on about there could be a playoff.... STFU. Rolling Eyes

The announcers had the audacity to say "I bet Tiger is kicking himself right now, knowing he could have run away with this thing." EVERYONE is kicking themselves for letting this one get away, except Lucas Glover.

Yeah but of course, Tiger is the only one who had any REAL chance at winning right? The ONLY reason Glover won is because Tiger played poorly, obviously... Rolling Eyes

I slightly agree ... but I don't find the fault with Tiger. He's a great golfer. He worked and continues to work hard at his game. He's successful because of his ethic.

So the problem I have is not with Tiger but with the announcers -
Problem 1: comparing everybody to Tiger. Golf is a game that has a lot of basics but every golfer brings their own unique abilities and styles to the game. Not everybody can bomb it 300 yards off the tee every time and not everybody can perfectly read every green. But put together a well enough played game and everybody had a chance to win on a given Sunday.
Problem 2: Quit finding fault with Tiger when he doesn't live up to the announcer's expectations. He's friggin human. There's a reason they're announcing and not playing the game. Everybody has off days. let the guy play the way he does when he's off and don't subject him to the, "Are you disappointed?' or, "What are you going to work on?" interviews when he has an off tournament.

Just my 2 cents.

Oh yeah, I agree completely. Tiger is an amazing golfer, I'm just sick of the (usually justified but no less annoying) hype!

I earned a lot of respect for Tiger after the latest regarding his tourney. When it moves from DC to Philly, anyone with a MD, DC or VA license gets free admission. Great marketing and a great way to further the growth of the sport.
After some REAL research and soul searching, I've come to NOT dislike him as much. I dislike the media more. They created the hype and perpetuate it.

Exactly. No problem with Tiger himself, he's amazing, and a classy guy. I just hate that he's the only one getting any attention. Pretty much summed up by the Open when the announcers were talking about Tiger winning it when he was clearly out of it... like come on... maybe give the people above him some coverage?

I mean really... Tiger is T44 right now... can we not just talk about somebody else and not go on and on and on about how Tiger might "beat the odds" and win it? If he does, great, but I'm sick of hearing about it.

The announcers keep bringing him up because they know he has a huge TV audience. The announcers' job is to keep people interested as well as informed so they don't change the channel. Besides, Tiger has come from behind to win so many times before, he's rarely ever completely out of the picture. On the other hand, I have seen some announcers go a little overboard.

Guys:

You're living through golf history. Enjoy it. No one before or no one in the future can match him.

This year? Six wins so far. Who else has HALF that many wins?
