Just want to gauge people's reaction to component clubs. I'm looking at getting 4-9 iron KZG blades. All custom fitted for $300.00.

Is it better to go with something like this than one of the big names that can't be truly custom fit?

Thanks for any advice.

Matt

NOTE TO SPAMMERS. I DON'T WANT TO GO TO YOUR WEBSITE. I WANT TO BUY "REAL" CLUBS FROM A TRUSTED SOURCE...DON'T WASTE MY TIME WITH YOUR CRAP!!

When you say "custom fit", what exactly do you mean? In my mind custom fitting has to be done by swinging a gazillion different clubs with varying length of shafts, flex, kick point, weight, material...then grip type, style, diameter...then heads of different weight, size, offset. Then you have to find out if your set goes 3-PW or 5-PW, maybe you carry hybrids, woods (9W for 190yds?)...sure sounds like a pain in the butt!

I bought 3&5 woods last year...hit them for about 75 rounds and never felt comfortable with them...sold the pair and bought a new 5W to replace them both, this one feels great and I hit it well. I lost about 20 yards over the previous 3W (i can live with that) and can choke up a bit and get the same distance I was getting with the old 5W..."GREAT" I told myself. But now I've started hitting my driver longer and that can get me into trouble on my local courses, so I need a club that goes about 30-50 yards shorter....that would have been my old 3W, oops...I sold it! I'm a little fed up with buying gear, so I think I'll just focus on avoiding 3 putts, or something.

Anybody need a caddy? I really like walking the courses, but the game is ticking me off!

When I say custom fitted, I mean pretty much what you're talking about. Getting measured for everything by a professional club maker. Type and length of shaft, grip size, head etc.

I know KZG are at the top of the component game, just want some feedback from others with experience.

My local shop does custom fitting on all current model year clubs. They don't do the adjustments at the shop. They take all of the necessary measurements, and then order them to those exact specs from the manufacturer. They'll even adjust the set to fit what you want, and then adjust the price accordingly (if you only want 6-PW, you only pay for those clubs, not a full set).

Everything can be changed as necessary. I haven't gone through the process yet, and it looks like my new house is going to get in the way this year. I just thought I chime in to let you know that depending on the shop, you may be able to get the same custom setup from a "big name" that you are getting through KZG.

Thanks mjaber. It seems to me though, that with the "big names", that's all you're really paying for, the "big name".

Don't get me wrong, I play Cobra FP's at the moment, but am seriously thinking of upgrading this year and was looking at components because of what I've read about them...now I'd like some "real world" views on them from anyone here that plays them.
