Ok I got a great drive today right up the center of the fairway, caught a really odd bounce and started rolling right. it came to a stop at the edge of the fairway so that literally 2/3rds of the ball was on the fairway, and 1/3rd was in the first cut. does that count as a fir? or does the entire ball need to be in the fairway? Stupid question I guess.. I gave myself the fir.. but is this the correct call?

I know that when it comes to whether a ball is legally on a green (normally so you can mark it and clean it), that if any ball is touching the green, then the ball is deemed to be on the green. I would think the same rule would apply to a ball being in the fairway. Whether it be for you statistical tracking of FIR or if you were playing lift, clean, and place in the fairway.
