Got a cool tip the other day to increase lag on my downswing.
Hold the club upside down with the head between ur wrists and take a normal grip on the shaft just below the head.
Take ur normal swing and listen for where the end of the shaft makes the whoosh sound.
Mine was behind me to my right at approx. 4-5 o'clock position (assuming my head is at 12 and my backswing is up toward 3).
He then told me to try to make the whoosh at the bottom of my swing path closer to 6 o'clock.
After I did that a few times, we flipped the club around proper-like and swung at the ball. Not only did I add 15-20 yds on my carry, my scatter pattern narrowed considerably.
Kinda hard to describe without images but it obviously was a help to get my lag on.
YMMV

I recall Henrik Stenson doing that drill during tournament play en route to winning the Playa's championship couple years ago. However after that he practically dropped off the face of the golf world. I dunno maybe something to do with the drill. Smile

Just kidding, sounds like a good idea, just hate to take a chance on dropping off the face of the golf world.

I believe this is all about tempo.

I've seen a couple of blokes use a tempo tool on the course. It looks kind of like a whiffle ball bat, and it makes that swooshing sound you are talking about. The one guy I saw recently plays a 1 cap, and after reading this tip, I've come to the realization that this is exactly what he was trying to do. He was centering the whoosh.

Good stuff. I'm going to try this tonight. My spray pattern is what I need to work on most right now.
