G'day Guys,

I've just joined up and was entering notional scores to get a feel for your program when I came across this anomaly.

I play at Heidelberg, Melbourne, and was updating the index for each hole on your website. I'm currently playing off a handicap of 24. Hole #2 is rated at 5 only, i.e. it doesn't matter how bad I am I only get one shot. But because index's only go from 1 to 18 in your program, it gives me two shots.

At the moment I can get around this problem by making the index 18 and just adjusting it as my handicap comes down, but it would mean everyone would need to do the same thing.

I've played on a number of courses where this same situation arises, so could you change the program to be able to input two index's for each hole e.g 7/24 for hole one.

Cheers

Sorry, im not following you. How could an stroke index be more than 18? Can you provide an example scorecard where you think the netscore is incorrect?

Here's a copy of the front nine. I haven't found an electronic copy of the card as yet. I'll try and get one scanned.

Hole: Par: Index: Extra Shots for 24 HCP
1 4 7/24 2
2 3 5 1
3 4 3/21 2
4 5 13/28 1
5 4 17/31 1
6 3 11 1
7 4 9/25 1
8 4 1/19 2
9 5 15/30 1

Maybe it's an Aussie thing where our social handicaps can go as high as 32, and therefore they index up to 32 on the card.

The stroke index is the hole difficulty in rank to the other holes on a course. Since there are 18 holes on a coures you can't have a stroke index greater than 18. Your handicap index can go as high as 32 but thats different than stroke index.

Thanks for trying to clarify this ridiculous game that we play.

So basically, using problem child hole #2 (index 5), if I'm playing stroke and take 6 shots, then I've played to my handicap, however if I'm playing stableford and take 6 shots (1 point) I've played one over my handicap?

The card for my course, and several others I've played on, only has the handicap index.

If we just use the handicap index then why bother having a stroke index as well, seeing as it can be derived from the handicap index.

It's just that this affects stat tracking for us high handicappers when it comes to achieving par with the aid of our handicap.

The "GolfCard" iPhone program which has lead me to your website only allows one entry for the index which means that my stableford score will always be incorrect. It's just something to keep in mind if stableford scores are being kept/tracked. I'll run this by the GolfCard guys and see what their take on the situation is.

Cheers

If you have a 24 handicap you get a second stroke for the holes that are indexed 1 through 6. Oobgolf does that automatically. You just enter your actual score.
