I use a blade putter just because that is what i have. I would like to get a center shafted mallet.

i use a blade putter (SeeMore FGP). before this, i used 8802 style putters practically my whole life. the FGP has DEFINITELY improved my putting, which is THE worst part of my game

Found that a Mallet/Rosie works best for my style of putting: crouched over like Jack Nicholas, and swing straight back and straight through

Blades work best if your swing is pulled inside on the way back, and pulled back inside on the follow through

I'm currently using a blade putter but have used a mallet in the past but think that I am able to line up putts and keep the ball rolling straighter as I hit each stroke.

I use an old PING Anser 2; it's a pat pending version. I don't know exactly what metal it is, but I love using it. I found it in the garage and got it re-gripped not long ago. Blade putters just seem right for me.

I've finally settled on a mallet putter with an oversized grip. It feels good in my hands and it's easy to line up. When i started playing back in the 80s i had a brass "banana" putter (like a minigolf putter). In the early 90s i went to an offset putter (much like what tiger is using) and changed to a mallet around 96. I tried the "alien Tutch mallet" that i got for $7 at boscovs. That was ok for a while, but eventually settled on the Odyssey Divine 2 ball with an oversized Winn grip. Best thing ever for me.

I was playing a Rife 2-bar Mallet. When I first got the putter I liked the feel of it. But recently I was having issues making a smooth stroke with it, plus the face got dinged a few times (my fault :-/). I think my stroke had changed a bit and didn't favor a mallet anymore.

Now I play the Cleveland Classic BRZ #2. It's technically a mallet, but I would consider it a nice balance between the two. I like the feel of the putter and I seem to do a better job of lining it up. Plus it looks super-sweet!

(As of this post, I'm the only oob'er using it. Some more of you guys need to try it!)

Plays like your typical #9 odyssey version. It's a heel shafted and toe weighted so it's more of a blade than a mallet in that sense. Not to many mallets with toe weighting. But it is a decently balanced putter and I feel I can make a great strike on the ball.

I use the forward press that Lefty uses in his Short Game DVD and I've been really happy with the results.

Blade for me; no way I'd ever think about replacing it; I love it. I think I could keep my putter forever.

Well, mjaber, I don't think my putter is the only factor in my 1.64 putting average. I do miss a lot of greens but I do usually put my chip within 6 feet. I've had good success this year in making putts that I should make.

I just started keeping track of my 1st putt distance 3 rounds ago. In my last 3 rounds, I've averaged 8.7 feet on my 1st putt and a 1.5 putt average from that distance.

I just love the feel of my putter and I have no desire to change.

When I went to Golf Galaxy to buy a putter, the Maxfli BlackMax stood out to me as the best feeling putter. I putted with the Odysseys, Nikes, Pings, etc. but the Maxfli is the one I had to have.

I just finished watching Phil Mickelson's video, and I have learned a lot. Boy...between that and dealing with Ping customer service this last couple of days, I feel like my head is going to explode.

Anyway, if I understand Phil correctly, it sounds like whether one uses a blade putter or a mallet putter is part of being fitted for the proper putter to fit your swing. If you prefer to bring your putter forward in a straight line back and then forward, then a blade putter is better suited because it naturally facilitates a slight rotating motion through the ball. If you prefer to putt with a slight arch in your swing, then a mallet putter is ideal because you don't need that slight rotating motion to hit through the ball.

Mallet for over 20 years

I tradedin my Ping Anser 2 and picked up a Founders CLub M-1 with a jumbo grip just because I felt really comfortable with it. The FC is a mallet with a center shaft and my putting has imroved considerably. The first round I used with it my average dropped about 7-10 shots. I was an awful putter and now I believe I am average to above average and improving every round. Love the mallet and my cheapo putter.

Used a blade forever, just switched this year to the Corza ghost mallet. Love the white, easy to aim, swings beautifully. Making 10 footers like they were tap ins now. If only those 10 footers were for birdie instead of par or bogey..then I'd be really happy
