Is it new tech? Old school? Shaft length? Shaft type? 2 wood? Driving irons? How do I stay btwn the pylons but still get the distance (more than 250) I need to give myself a chance on long par 4s. My 2 iron is 210, my 3W is 240. Hep me bros.

Depends more on you. I'd say go try a few and see which one works well for you. I used to have a wicked slice with the stock driver that came with my set of Wilsons. I've since upgraded to a TM R5-Dual (d). It is still possible for me to slice it badly, even with the draw bias, but I'm definately straighter and longer with it than I was with the stock.

I'm hoping it's the Dymo sqaure head. One's coming for my birthday present.

Straightest driver is the one behind the wheel with the least amount to drink.

Mookie, I can't hit that square headed dymo straight to save my life. I demo'd one for about a week and could never get the clubhead square at impact consistently. I think it was a mental thing with the square head shape. However, I tried the round headed dymo on the range a couple of times, and it was much more comfortable to my eye and I was hitting it well. Not any better than my current driver though.

But, we're all different. So, windowsurfer, try out a bunch of drivers. Not a couple, not three, not just the ones on sale. Try out a bunch, and when you find the one that is the most comfortable, buy it.

When I originally posted this, I was in the depths of driver despair. Working hard on the practice tee, but no reward when playing. I appreciated the "work ethic" type replies, but I felt like the remedy was part sweat/persistence and part technology. I found a club that seems to bear this out. Macgregor NVG, a 435cc head, stiff graphite shaft, 44-3/4", draw bias. I am hitting a draw or straight. Very few fades. Almost no slices. Decent distance. So, I answered my own question. Thank goodness. Hope it's sustainable! (The club was only $60 on eBay, so that part was relatively bearable.) Now I'm workin on hittin a few mo'GREENS!

There is no straightest driver. I'm hitting a Titleist 975d which I hit pretty straight because the shaft fits my swing.
Give me an OEM off the rack Burner and I'd hook the hell out of it.
In other words, go get fit for the right shaft to match your swing. You'll be happy you did.

Agree with the shaft comment, but I figure clubs do have a part to play. Clubs get oversold as a cure-all, but that is spin and we are eager to believe, so it works. But overall, they only are part of it, imo. I wonder if shafts are, in many cases, a bigger part of the equation than the clubhead. I dunno.

the straightest driver i have found over the past 3 years (for me) is the Callaway FT-i. ive bought a few different drivers over the past year (Mizuno MX-700, Nike Dymo, Nickent Evolver, Bridgestone J33, and a couple others), but the FT-i just seems to make its way back into my bag every week. One driver that gave my FT-i a run for its money was the Cleveland Monster, but yet again, the FT-i won... I just cant seem to hit anything better. it is a fairway finding machine for me. im averaging 70% of fairways hit with it

Take it a step further from the Callaway FT-i and consider the FT-iQ. I can not believe how straight I hit this thing (if I just don't try to kill it.) The clubhead is certainly different looking (square), to say the least, but it has really helped my game off the tee. Though my 'fairways hit' spec has certainly increased some, it would even be much higher if I included all those drives that ended up in perfectly good shape, but just a bit off the fairway in the first cut.

Earlier this year I worked on changing my swing path more from the inside out, which made a positive difference when I was hitting my old Callaway X460. My drives got consistently much straighter. Once I started hitting the FT-iQ using the same swing path, the ball exploded off the face and went dead straight, as long as I kept my tempo in check.

Most reviews I read before purchasing the FT-iQ said it was an awesomely straight driver for those that had a tendancy to fade/slice. As long as you don't get too over-the-top or outside-in with your swing, the ball goes straight. On the other hand, if you tend to draw/hook the ball, this club might not work for you.

Familiar stuff. Went down the same road. I'm now at a place where I set up with the face closed, swing inside out and ka-boom! (to use grandson's fav expression) If I start to hook it's either cuz of overswing (KILL!) or finishing to low/handsy. I can usually cure by having a "high finish" swing thought. But the FT is certainly sounding right for moi. Thx.

im using the stock Fujikura Speeder 586 stiff shaft. i just LOOOVE that shaft! until i find something i can hit better, the ft-i is staying in the bag.
by the way, the worst of the drivers i hit (for me) was the Mizuno MX-700. it was about 10-20 yards longer than the ft-i, but i couldnt hit a fw to save my life with that driver. it just didnt suit my swing like the ft-i does. that doesnt mean it isnt a great driver, it just means it didnt suit MY swing
also, i demo'd the ft-iq and i still hit the ft-i better. i have no idea why, i guess im just used to it cuz the ft-iq is supposed to be significantly straighter than the ft-i. it wasnt for me though
