Yes, USGA handicapping uses 9 hole scores and oobgolf follows their formula exactly. However the way it works is that two 9 hole scores must be paired together to be used as an 18 hole score. If you click on the "handicap" text on your my game page it will show you the exact way the handicap is calculated with your scores.

FYI: In the handicap score of this golfer (http://www.oobgolf.com/golfers/skimmer) something is wrong with the calculation.

There are 9 hole scores of 60+ but still a negative handicap is calculated.

I just noticed it because it's no. 1 in the handicap leaderboard.

It is off because the course (Overijse Golf Club) has a slope, but no rating.

Ah, I see. Is it just a question of dividing the SR for 18 holes by 2?

The rating is now 69.9. That would mean 34.95 for the 9 holes.

There is no CR for the first or second 9 (the course in question turns out to be 9 holes with a dual tee setup to get an 18 hole round.)
