Has anyone been fitted at GolfTec for new irons? I am thinking about it, but am worried how much i might end up spending.

Any thoughts or criticisms?

What about Golf Galaxy. Has anyone been fitted there?

I was fitted for a new putter at GG. It was thorough but pretty painless and the guy explained exactly what was being measured (length, lie, loft) and why.

Never been fitted for other clubs, however one tip I was given is, don't get fitted during the off season or straight after a layoff since you need some time to re-groove and make sure you are being fitted for your natural, normal swing and not some out of practice facsimile.
