any chance to add a field to each hole on a scorecard to keep track of the yards you hit off the tee?

i know a lot of people don't have this info, but when golfing with a gps or a caddie, this info is available, so why not record it and then plot average drive distance etc.

would this only be off the tee? is anyone tracking yards hit on 2nd, 3rd shot, etc?

i think there's too many variables for 2nd, 3rd shots.

there's the lie, bunkers, where the green is. i don't really think anyone tracks that.

but the tee shots are useful. usually you do a full swing with whatever club (driver).

When a person enters a score as a total number only, instead of hole by hole. Their fairways hit should default as zero instead of 100%. The fairway percentage on the leaderboard would then be more relevant. Thanks, great job guys.

m2d, when someone enters total score their fairways do not default to 100%. the only time they are 100% is when someone says they hit X fairways, but did not miss any...

I used a computer program a while back that tracked Club off Tee then yards.. 2nd shot club, 3rd shot club, etc. It then requested approach shot and club used. (this was to give percentages of approach chances and club used) which you could then rate what clubs you hit best coming into the green, and the ones you had to work on.

It also got detailed to the point in that it wanted you to catergorize each shot. Slice, Pull, Draw, Fade, Hook, Straight, Pitch, Chip, Bump and Run. That got combersome to keep track of how you hit each shot. Only did that for 10 rounds then quit doing it. The nice thing about that was after a that many rounds I could see my tendancies. Some good tendancies, ALOT bad. Haha.

I like the idea about keep track of TEE SHOT YARDAGES and club used, and APPROACH SHOT yardages with club used. Give you a good sense if you are being consistent setting yourself up for good opportunities.

i would also like to track more things like distance off tee, sliced or hooked, club hit on second shot. i want this data to show what shots need the most work. sand saves is another one. another big one is distance on the putts. i want to track how my putting is by distance.

is it possible to have fields available and the user could configure which ones he/she wanted on his virtual scorecard?

i plan on using it during the round and it will be a breeze to track on a per hole basis.

re: putts tracking.

just as a request. can we add/modify putting per GIR rather than regular putts/hole average?

putts/hole inaccurately measures your putting because it can be a function of how good your short game is.

just a thought.

I would use the feature of tracking 2nd shots and subsequent (APPROACH shots). It is a good feature to see what clubs I hit best into the green, especially when matched to GIR.

just read golf digest with annika's take on statistics.

there are some interesting things she keeps stats on, up-and-downs and up-and-downs-from-100-yds. Some of these clearly vary from person to person.

overall, i am happy with oobgolf's stat and graphing capabilities. however, how hard would it be to add custom stats to your scorecard? i really don't think it would be that hard. define it in your own profile, add a box to each hole. graphing may be slightly more work.

thanks for all the good stuff you've done so far!

One other stat I have found that is a good mental one to keep is the "Bounce Back"

What do you shoot after having a bad hole. Can I par the next one after a double or triple bogie or WORSE. Sometimes I can, sometimes I cant, but having good bounce back is a sign of mental toughness. THe more I play the better I am at coming back from a bad hole.

Has this feature been approved? if so, when will it be incorporated? it's the one feature keeping me from using this site.

HrlyKrs, which specific feature are you talking about? I think everything in this forum is in the works, just different time frames for each.
