I would like to see hole lengths in meters as well as in yards. I noticed that yards are the only option while entering a new course for the database.

For existing courses a toggle in the user preferences with a recalculate could suffice (I'm not a programmer so I can't say if it would be better to calculate it on the fly or if you should add an extra column in the database with lengths in meters). For entering new courses or editing course data it should be a radio button for the choice of input.

Thanks in advance

I totally agree with this as i am in Australia and it would be a bit of a pain to convert everything to yards to enter a course

Me three!

I've just entered a couple of courses in my local area and it would be great to have the distances in metres!

I don't think I can be bothered to enter it in yards... It'll take too long to convert 54 holes!!!

Does it really affect anything, assuming the course rating is correct? I have put a couple of course data in and just used the number on the score card. (Here, it is meters, of course.)

I was wondering if it really matters, as long as you stick to one unit of measurement. As long as you compare apples to apples so to speak. If you compare your driving length in metres to a friend who measures in yards then you will have issues, but for your own scores in Oobgolf, does it affect any statistics?

Just make a note when entering your scores that distances are metres and not yards.

Not having experienced metres in Oob, I could be way off and I do expect some (angry?) feedback.

That's the problem though, we're unable to compare apples with apples, we HAVE to convert to oranges (and we prefer apples).

I've just continued to input metres, although oobgolf thinks I'm talking in yards.

Well meters is one thing, but in general I'd like to get oobgolf more non-US friendly.
* Golf course entry and search features mainly focus on US states,
* As far as I know, only "usga" type of stroke-oriented handicap is computed. We use completely different stableford-based systems in Europe.
oobgolf offers nice, unique features, and could certainly gain even more share if it paid attention to non-US golfers.
Yes the system is currently "workable" but it was definitively not thought with non-US golfer in mind.

Over half of the golfing world works in Meters.

I would like to see an option in my preferences letting me choose which system of units I want to use, an when entering a new course, there should be the option to enter either unit.

Easy. When can we have this, I don't think in yards.
