I had the experience yesterday of being put into a group of golfers I didn't know. All 3 were random.
So my question is- if you are playing with randomos- what etiquette should you follow for things like walking to your tee shot?
Should you always stop at the first ball- or is it ok to walk ahead of the group to your ball if it isnt in the path of the hitter? Everyone yesterday stopped and waited while I walked ahead. I kinda of felt bad- but we were trying to beat the sun. Why should I wait for some short hitter when I could be ready to hit? _________________ Kickntrue-

it depends on the situation if you watch the pros they will walk ahead of the other player as long as time allows or if you are far enough out of eye sight example 25 30 yards off to one side.

I don't mind if someone goes to their ball, but some people are picky about that stuff. If you don't want to wait, at least stop walking when they address their ball. But when in doubt, just wait.

I usually try to stay out of the fellows' eyesight if they're addressing their shot and my ball is in front of them. The polite thing to do is just stay out of sight until after they hit. Same goes for putting

I ask if they dont mind if I walk ahead.. I make an effort to stay out of the way. Also, it helps my game.. I can be ready and mentally set for that particular shot if I am ahead and waiting my turn.
If i have to walk or drive right up, go thru pre shot, address and hit.. seems to be too much all at once... hurried is the term.
By walking up, you can be ready to hit when its your turn, take your time, and still have a quick round.

Guys walking or driving ahead does not bother me a bit. But, if I bean you with a ball, I don't want to hear them cry or bitch about it.
Most of the time, the problem with guys moving ahead is the distraction of them moving around trying to address their ball, pick clubs, making practice swings....etc. Those guys usually make a terrible shot rushing up to hit their shot, because they don't think..they just react.

everyone has to agree from the start that there going to play Ready Golf... some people do not take kindly to putting out of order or hitting 1st cause there ready. you have to talk to the whole group and see what everyone else wants. that makes the rest of the round go way more smoothly... I once played with this older guy like 85, and he could play. but he wanted to go 1st on everything, hitting, putting, you name it he just walked up and would hit away. I felt like well he played the game this long and no one has killed him yet, so I guess he has earned the right to go 1st...
come to think of it he never mentioned his wife,
I wonder if she said something....lol

Maybe he was in a hurry to get the round in before he kicked the bucket.

one thing with walking ahead is that you should at least be looking at or watching for his shot, because even a good player hitting a shot and seeing someone ahead of them not looking at you and knowing is a distraction for the hitter as he may be thinking that if he shanks one now he has to yell for you to duck or FORE...
otherwise ready golf is widely accepted as the way to play faster now days...

I will usually walk ahead unless I'm directly in their line of play, even then I'll sometimes walk ahead to the side if I can stay out of their line of sight easily enough. I think the main thing is to always make sure you keep an eye on their shot and make sure you pause once they address the ball.

Do not walk or ride ahead of someone's shot. It's as rude as talking on a cell phone on the golf course.

The only time that I will go ahead is when i've sliced/hooked it way off the fairway and need that additional time to ensure that I don't hold everyone else up.
Other than that, I try to stay with the group. There may be times I don't but when playing with people I don't know, I try to stay with them.

If it is a group of 4, I think Ready Golf is essential. If a group of 3, it depends on the skill level. If 2, then wait.

Simple solution: Get friends and play with them, that way you don't have to worry about offending them, lol
Real Solution: Just be smart about it, don't get in his/her way but at the same time you are playing your own game too so focus on what helps you play best within being respectful of those around you

This is how I feel also. If me waiting means I'm holding everyone up for longer than necessary, I go to my ball. I just stop and wait once they actually get to their ball.
