Just thought I'd like as many eyes as i can have on my swing. Paying a pro is one thing and it's working out, but everybody wants to make sure they're getting quality practice in right??
Once again, the troubles of filming yourself. I wasn't quite "strait on" to myself, so it appears i'm a little open and the ball is forward. It's really not. Just in line with the instep of my left and i'm pretty strait on to the target. The down the line version, i think i got right this time and i'm aimed at the last sign on the right.

New swing side: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZvCIOOeyUc

I think i got the 2 plane thing worked out. It's not as pronounced now. My tempo and release are a little better too. Just wondering if anybody saw anything crazy.

My grip is also a little tighter with my right palm in contact or nearly in contact with my left thumb. Before it was raised up and away a little. I've also tried to tighten up the top of the swing. I'm not SOOOO past parallel now, and often times, just on it. Last thing is shoulder alignment. On the previous video (below) of my old swing, not only was the camera set up to the right a little, but i was a little closed to the target and you can STILL only see my right shoulder, saying i was way open in the upper body. I fixed that with the new swing. -- or rather i'm still trying to.

Thanks for comments in advance Smile

Swing looks great. The only thing I see and I don't know if it is a big problem or not, but your right leg seems to be straightening and it looks like your backswing could be a little shorter to get rid of extra movement. I think both of these are related; however, I am not an expert at this.

I hadn't noticed that before. It's hard to tell with the video, so when i go out tomorrow i'll check it out to see if i'm straitening out. Thanks! Smile

Hey birdie, I still love the swing. If I were consistently in the fairway or only a couple yards off and about 300 yards long; I wouldn't change a thing.

What aspect of your driving are you looking to improve? Distance, accuracy, workability?

Thanks, man!

Trying to improve all 3 really. who isn't? Just always trying to add that extra few yards and get the ball to do what i want. I have a pretty mediocre ability to do everything, but if i really had to choose one, i'd be ok with my distance and just work on accuracy/workability, which go hand in hand. Next time i go out to the range, i'm going to do my driver swing, a 6 iron and a 9 iron. They all look pretty much the same except they're progressively more vertical LOL.

What would you say your typical miss and shot shape with the driver would be?.

yea i was just looking at that myself. At least the plane is consistently two planes. The only difference between the two swings is my starting shoulder position in the new swing (green shirt), which is parallel to the target and feet line, as opposed to open or left of the target, which resulted in more of a fade or a pull (orange shirt). So that makes sense that the inside plane is a little wider on the new swing. I emailed my pro with the image i made and asked if she thought it was a big deal. My positions, while not perfect, are darn good at address and at the top, which is why i'm wondering if i should be concerned. The fade may be a clubface alignment issue since the downswing, though over the top, is still down the line and not inside out.

I think you're gonna do great at the WAC. It's a great swing, believe in it and let's get back to it afterwards Smile

Well, i've still got a few weeks to tinker. I want to have a week to practice on the range so the last week before WAC is no tinker time. haha. I can groove a swing pretty fast. It only took me 3 days to implement the grip and shoulder change comfortably. I think i'm going to do some work on the range today right after work but before my round.

So yea, it's just going to be that i'm a 2-planer i think. I can't get rid of it, and when i do swing on plane i have NO idea where the ball is going to go. I've hit snap hooks as well as hard slices with the same swing. I'm just going to live with it and be the Anti-Furyk LOL.

Here's a final video test. 7 iron and Driver from the back. They're consistent at least. It's just not so pronounced as i get into the shorter clubs. Accuracy with the irons is pretty awesome. it's just the big stick that's been giving me troubles.

So just before the death of my newest video recording device, i got this swing vid, which i've been meaning to do since the beginning of the season. I've been working hard with Lisa Hörst to make my swing more consistent. I think it's worked really well. i've still got a little lay off move going, but it's leaps and bounds ahead of where i was last year at the end of the season.

Stopping on mid takeaway the club is more upright, top is right down the target line and at full torque. i think i'm in a better position all the way through the swing. Especially on follow through I'm pointed actually a little left of the target line because I uncoil so much now and release through.

Sep, BK, you know i'm always especially interested in what you have to say Smile. Still have 2 planes, but that never hurt Furyk -- i mean, he's got like 8 doesn't he? FYI, target is right on the brim of my cap in the tree gap.

Wow I like it. Better position at the top, shoulders are not near as flat. I think your downswing has always looked good, this one is right down the pipe. Also noticed an improvement in less lateral hip movement and a good start with your left side uncoiling in the downswing.

My 2 cents are:
starting the club on higher plane in the first 1/2 of the takeaway. I think a steeper takeaway could eliminate some of the needed moves or timing that happen in order to get the club into your downswing plain at the top.

Increasing/maintaining spine angle throughout the swing. This is going to bring your club up higher through the takeaway and at the top then allow you to keep your chest down and on top of the ball through impact.

I think that consistently feeling these positions or angles are the key to "grooving" it in a swing. I know it sounds ghetto, but leaning a 2x4 against the house is a good way to consistently guide your club on the takeaway.
