Uh oh. Still not 100% clicking with the new sticks. Starting to be afraid might have bitten more than I can chew...

I walked a few nines with my other older clubs recently for comparison. I dug out my old GigaGolf knock-offs which are a mixed up set, some look like X-20, some like Adams. Shafts lighter than the S300 on the Mp-53 and of course full cavity back.

Result? Hitting these clubs much better than I ever did when they were in my bag regularly back in '09. Crazy distance compared to the 53's. (I know the number on the bottom of the club is arbitrary). A club longer. It was fun.

I think the main difference, aside from the distance, is the weaker shafts on the old clubs might fit me better than the S300. Sometimes swinging the longer Mizuno clubs with those S300 feels like a 2X4, which I believe affects my tempo and confidence.

I'm not going to give up yet, though. When hit well the MP's have excellent control. It is my impact which needs to improve.

I've played a few rounds with my 53's now, and I know what you mean about the impact needing more improvement. They definately are not as forgiving as my Nike NDS irons. But when hit correctly, these 53's are dead straight where you aim, and the ball sticks. They are more workable also, which I wanted. Could never get a fade when needed before, but I can with these. They require a good swing and good contact which I knew before ordering. So far I am extremely happy with them.

I hit both the JPX 800 and 800 pros at a local demo. Sick clubs, feel better than the Razr tour by far and more forgiving, off mats at least than the AP2 with same distance with the XP S300. Go with the Pro's if you are below an 18 handicap. If you know your specs or trust online fitting, buy them off Golf-Seller on ebay. He is an authorized Mizuno dealer who fits you with measurements and your called misses and distances. I called Mizuno to verify that and is super quick, one week on average from buying to FedEx drop ship...and under $600 for 7 clubs of your choice.
