Ripping off an idea directly from the gold digest challenge (golfdigest.com/challenge), it would be good to be able to record pitch/save saves when hole by hole scoring.

A save here is defined as 1 putt or less following a chp/pitch/sand shot (from less then 50 yards).

I agree that would be cool but you would need someway to differentiate between when you were in a fairway bunker vs. a greenside bunker and then failed to get the save. Otherwise you would just see sand shot and no save if you were in a fairway bunker.

you need to be closer than 50 yards for a sand shot +1 putt to be a save. Usually fairway bunkers > 50 yards from the hole?

I know Andrew thinks I make these things up, but I promise I don't. I am not a very good golfer, but I do play a lot, and so I see some unusual things. When you spoke of the fairway bunkers, it reminded me of an occurance on a par 5 at the Raven golf club in Cabo San Lucas. I hit my drive in a fairway bunker, a 3 wood to another fairway bunker or spoil area, then some kind of iron into the greenside bunker. By this time I'm getting pretty mad. But then I hit it from the trap directly into the hole for a birdie. Amazing how quick your attitude can change with one shot. Has anyone ever played a par 5, in one under, without the ball ever touching grass?

I'm all for adding the saves from <50yd chips and bunker shots. I've used the GD Challenge in the past, but this site is far superior for tracking. (Even more so if you added the saves feature.)

I'm all for adding saves (sand and chipping)! Two very important stats to track in my game.
