what is the formula for optimum launch angle? I was using some driving range and it was saying I was hitting a 7-iron 24*-25* is that high? whats best? How do you hit lower? I am a new golfer, my shots tend to be high and straight but not very long.

I can tell you how to hit it lower:

-place the ball back in your stance slightly
-maintain spine angle and keep your head down as you swing through the ball
-make sure that you keep your hands in front of the ball at impact.

Most times this will draw the ball as well.
