Will the admins of this site delete accounts or certain scores that are obviously fraud?
Nothing against the people that MAY accidently do it, but it affects leaderboards and is just not in the golf-etiquette manner you know?

For example, take a look at:
http://www.oobgolf.com/golfers/jfinn

If we could identify scores like this and have the site eliminate them (the scores not the accounts of course) it would be great!

I've been wondering the same thing. The leaderboards are not as helpful with all the fake scores. I would volunteer to help out with identifying the fake scores and/or deleting them. Thanks

I don't think they need to be deleted (unless that is the only way), but maybe a non complete round (ie scores not entered for a hole) should not be listed in the leaderboard or effect their handicap.

I think USGA rules has something about a non complete round and filling in scores. Can't remember the exact reference atm.

But yeah it is annoying that people don't finish their scores or put in fake ones.

okay, here's a classic example:

In looking at the leaderboards for best PUTTING, you get this guy, who is ranked #1 with a 0.54 average. Here's a link to a scorecard of his:

http://www.oobgolf.com/golfers/score.php?id=1237245

Pretty amazing that he CHIPPED IN 11 TIMES that round huh????

Could very well be he played stableford in which case you don't have to hole out if you can't score anymore. Wake up, there's more than just strokeplay!

Hey hollywoodtimb-

I'm starting to help Andrew police different things around the site to help keep the leaderboards honest. For this specific score (entering 0 for putts), I'm not sure what the best way to handle it is. I've asked Andrew for his expertise.

In general though, if you see a "bogus" score, just private message me and I'll be happy to investigate it. We definitely work to prevent bogus scores for cluttering the leaderboards.

Jev, I think they just want to eliminate those rounds from the stats... if they didn't put, then it skews the stats.

If I read correctly, they want to delete the whole scores, not just remove them from the stats. IMHO it's a bug that we can't input the type of game that causes the schewed stats. Bugs need to be solved, not worked around'ish.

It has been a long-standing request to support other handicapping systems that require stableford. Once that is solved, it should be easy to automatically catch scores of games that don't require holing out.

Note: these stats are important not just for the 'leaderboards' (how important are these anyway?) but for personal analysis too. If you play sf a lot, it is important to know how many holes are completed. It says something about how bad you played before attacking the greens Wink

I agree, it would be nice.
It looks like they have loads on their plates. The site works well, and has some nice features, but there seems to be a long laundry list of wants and needs too.

Stableford is a nice way to play too, some of our tournaments are scored that way.

Hey jev-

Don't worry, our system does not delete scores that appear "bogus". Typically, we mark bogus score as "Practice" to keep them off the leaderboards. In this case, because it's his putts that seem to be the stat in question, it's a little tricky.

I made sure your suggestion to add Stableford as a scoring option is on our list, and it was. We'll talk about it internally and see what happens in the future. Thanks for your feedback.

Good to hear that it's not a policy matter Mustang! If you guys want to grow oobgolf to be popular beyond just the USA and Canada, stableford scoring and the EGA handicap system would be a requirement. Add those functions to the mobile apps, add a couple of good apps for tablets (scoring only!) and you have the ecosystem required to break through in Europe.
