I have to admit, I like to play with a "top-line" golf ball most of the time; ie: Pro-V, B-330, etc... But how many times have you grabbed some shag-ball from the bottom of your bag for a fun round of golf early or late in the year and played one of your better rounds. Bottom line, for us hacks, does it really matter that much? Crazy Game!

I just did such a thing this past weekend. The weather was COLD here so I reached in my bag and used a Noodle that I found last season. Normally I like to play a Pro Vx. l played the Noodle for the first three holes, but found that I was losing distance and it didn't bite very well on the greens even though they were soft. I switched to a Pro Vx and gained distance off the tee and action on the greens. for my game, a better ball does make a difference.

I played any ball I could find for the longest time. Then I switched to Pro V1 and I will not go back. It's not the same.

My swing speed is just entering into the rhealm where it's fast enough to play a ProV. Even before, though, I was amazed at how much more accurate my approaches were when playing a ProV even though I'd lose 20-30 yards on my drives (and slice them like crazy). I typically play a Bridgestone E5 as of right now, though, because it is better suited for my swing speed while providing a good amount of spin for accurate approaches.

Last year I found Wal-Mart was selling Titleist X-outs for $10/doz... DTs and NXTs. After playing them for a while, the local Wal-mart stopped carrying them, or they ran out, so I started playing the DT SoLo. It seemed to fit me the best of the 3 DT versions.

Recently, I acquried 3 dozen Nike Karma. They'll go into the bag once the current Titleist supply goes.
