Mulling over the forums and players trying to get better, i think this may be a good stat.

Short game:

Basically it would add your putts and chips for each hole and average them. Very much like putts and chips does, but seeing 1 at the end of my round as a stat for chips doesn't really do me any good, neither does seeing just 1.89 on my putting (or whatever it is without looking). Good players will strive to have one chip, and one putt. This stat would give, at a glance, how you're doing around the greens. Someone who gets next to the green and constantly has an up and down, as well as 2 putts a GIR will have a "perfect" stat of 2. if one has 3 or more, it will indicate an issue with the short game and you can find out need for improvement by looking at the putting stat. If one has a 1.9 or lower, they have a better short game and have thrown some chip ins and one-putts in there. SavvY? it could be an automatic stat when putts and chips stats are turned on. just a thought.

I think its a really good idea, should be a simple addition to the code too.

The chips is worth nothing to me.
Combining chips and putts for a greenside score would be really useful.

I'm almost wondering if they could add a "Attack Strokes" or something, where we can consider shots we should be hitting the green from.

Like 120 in for most people.
So attack stroke 2
Chips 0
Putting 2
would be a 4.

Sometimes, I mess up a approach and then another then 1 putt. It looks good, but its not from that attack range.

But greensize sounds great too, i like all my stats Smile
Good idea Bird

i think that's a good idea too g, but i'm wondering how to implement something like that without slowing down play. that's why i don't use any of the yardage stats that i have. It's really time consuming for me to plug in how far or what distance i have left on a regular basis. I do it when i'm just practicing and i do it when the course is so full that there's nothing else to do. I wish the gps integrated with that stat. That would be cool Smile but a lot of work. Attack strokes, or strokes from 100yds in or something like that would be cool for sure.

Yeah, i know it gets out of hand.
Last round I kept track of how many shots from each club... interesting I must say... but it did slow me down... but then again, I made time and we were still way ahead of the group behind us.

It's a great idea, but I would include in that statistic the number of sand shots, assuming one keeps track only of greenside bunkers in that stat (as I do). I mean 5 shots in a bunker (like I did last week) sure has a way to make that number creep up! Rolling Eyes

i take solace in the fact that I'm not the only beach bum. you 1-upped me though with your 5. i just slapped a 3-jack on top of mine. cheers on our matching 9's, fellow duffer!

joking aside, I think this is a good idea (short game shots). it would be an easy at-a-glance number to try to improve.

LOL! Duke, I am normally not that bad in the sand, usually getting out in one (not close to the pin, but at least, I am out!). This particular bunker was really difficult as it was very tall, with a very steep hill above it, needing to carry another 4-5 feet in height and about as much in linear distance before being over the green. The ball kept rolling back down, until I deliberately skulled it out of there... ShockedEmbarassed

I am really looking forward to tracking that stat, as anything creeping towards 3 and up is really not good.

i keep track of any sand for mine, but that may not be a bad idea to just do greenside for the sand and keep that in the stats. Good idea! sorry to hear about the 5 spot though Sad
