I´m a late begin golf player, I´m 51 y old and played since 2002, usually played at Sol del Vergel Golf Course a new course close to my town. My partners and I enjoy to trip to Valley of Texas to play every 3 months, this sunday we´ll play twilight round at Palm View and next day try to catch a round at Los Lagos in Edimburgh,Tx.
We want to explore golf courses by San Antonio and Houston Area next fall. Smile

Hola back at you. Welcome to the world of Oob Golf.

When in San Antonio, be sure to try Cedar Creek. Good rates and interesting layout (hilly). You might also consider the two courses at La Cantera Resort. However, check GolfNow for a discounted rate. The normal rates at La Cantera are too high for me.

Yeah! the Cedar´s Creek is our main choice, of course, La Cantera is most famous perhaps PGA previus Valero Open, but its expensive and we prefer 2 good rounds in Cedar´s. Thanks a lot.

Those are a couple of good choices, I've played them both. Another famous course in the San Antonio area is the Quarry, and a fine reasonably priced one that I am anxious to get back to is Canyon Springs.

Thanks for the info, a friend played Canyon course last winter and enjoyed a lot. We expect to stay for a weekend and try to catch 4 rounds, Cedars and Quarry top the list but Canyon Springs could be the next.

We played Palm View Municipal in McAllen sunday sundown its a challenge course with strong rough and speedy greens, the weather was extreme, 105°F. Saludos.

The Quarry is a great course but I'd wait til fall to play there. If you think 105 degrees is hot, then just imagine what it's like down in a hole with no wind.
