Never Sad. Because of my length off the tee, I'm probably more likely to hole something for an eagle than make the putt. I've had less than a handful of eagle putts in my life, the most recent being at Bass River on the Cape last year. I had about a 25 footer that ran just by. I've hit a couple fairway shots to a couple inches, but that's about as close as I've come. I did start out one season with three consecutive birdies which is probably my longest streak there as well.

I think if I played at Quarry Ridge in Portland, CT more often, I would have an eagle by now as they have 3 shorter par 5's. My goal this year was to get around to a bunch of courses. Maybe next year, it will be a quest for the elusive eagle.

Been over a year since my last even though this year I've had the most opportunities. Could not cash in.

I have been lucky enough to have 2 this year. First was on a short 255 yard par 4 on an executive course. Drove it on..sank big breaking 15 footer.

Second was on a short par 5 .. played about 455 that day. Driver, 21 degree hybrid, that ALMOST dropped for the albatross.....sank a knee knocking downhill breaking left to right 4 footer Very Happy

I hit an eagle on a par 4 which was 301 yds. The second shot was a 15-20 yd pitch to the hole.

I've been told by a formerly ranked golfer, who nobody has ever heard of that a eagle on a par 4 is a much more difficult feat than on a par 5.

I had to scratch my head on that remark at first, but I can see the logic now. But I think the remark only applies to longer Par 4's than the short par 4, I eagled.

On a short PAR5, most longhitters can reach the green in 2 if the conditions are in their favor. One putt left for an eagle. On a PAR4, you'll have to sink the approach for an eagle which, I think, is more difficult than the one-putt on the above PAR5.

Had one stupid lucky ace on par 3 and one hole-out from fairway on par 4, but despite all the "going for the green" attempts on par 5's in two, no eagles yet in playing since 2008.

Finally got that elusive eagle today. Wind at my back. Two shots on and 20' putt.

I'd have to say my most gratifying eagle was on a par 5 hole in Waco Texas, playing with a buddy who was real competitive.
His third shot was about 2 inches from the hole guaranteeing a birdie. My second shot was in a bunker 100 feet from the hole. He'd already started counting the money he was going to win by winning the hole. I can't play out of the sand worth crap and he knew it. Golf lets you have an acorn once in a while and I had it that day by pitching out of the sand into the hole just like you see on TV

I'd say a driveable Par4 would be more difficult than a short par5 as well. You have more control with a mid/long iron from the fairway than you will with driver off the tee, or at least I do.

I have had one eagle in regulation , the other one was a hole out from 80 yards or so ,
The eagle in regulation was a 550 yard hole with water guarding the green , i hit driver 300 yards then a 3 wood from 250 with a fade onto the green, then a two way breaking putt from 25 feet , best moment of my life Very Happy

Got one last week on hole #9, par 5 playing like a 4.5 that day. As Some others have said is kind of a pushover.

Ace on #11 at eagle creek
I`ve made 3 eagles in my life, The 1st was on a par 5 where I got on in 2, and then the 2nd came on the very next hole! The ace was my 3rd.
