no

And i`ve actually been in a more retarded ruling than this. When I was 17 I played in a junior matchplay tourney and in the semifinals I played with this boy who played a wrong ball in a bunker and the ruling was "no penalty because he played the wrong ball form a hazard" when the rule is no penalty for playing a wrong ball in a WATER hazard. Even worse, he won the hole when he should have lost it and I lost the match...... by 1 hole Sad

What was the name of the tournament and what day(s) was it played on?

Prior to 2008, hitting the wrong ball from a hazard was not subject to penalty, I believe. "Hazard" included sand bunkers. So long ago when you were playing junior golf, the ruling was probably correct.

Exception: There is no penalty if a competitor makes a stroke at a wrong ball that is moving in water in a water hazard. Any strokes made at a wrong ball moving in water in a water hazard do not count in the competitor’s score.

Correction to earlier post. It was a wrong ball
