I played with somebody yesterday that used dip tobacco. O.k., so he would spit on the greens - usually near his ball. All I could picture was his ball being in my line & having to roll my ball through his brown slobber. How would you have handled this...

I've pleasantly asked people to please refrain from spitting on the greens before. It doesn't even have to be tobacco spit. It's gross.

Never faced that one but have had problem with sun flower seeds. Stupid habit and makes putting difficult. Sorry to say I threatened to knock the jerk on his fanny when he told me to piss off. Marshall removed him from the course.

I would have to say you handled it well. I must confess I do dip snuff tobacco, but will make this very clear I do not spit on putting greens. I will spit in fairways, and sorry for this to others. Greens are a no-no in my book.

Spitting is just bad, golf course or no.

In to the gutter or a drain is OK, but over the last 10 years or so here spitting seems to have become a self-confidence booster (or show of same).

It's just gross.
