The "first in gets the pin" rule is another I've never heard of. I always try to get the pin, and if someone else beats me to it, then so be it.

When there is an elderly player, I not only try to get the pin for him, but I also try to get the ball out of the cup for him. God forbid he use the head of his putter to fish that puppy out.

I played with an extremely overweight fellow once who always used the head of his putter to fish the ball out of the hole. He was a client of my playing partner, so I didn't dare say anything to him about it. We just raced to get to the hole before him so he wouldn't destroy the cup. Personally, I don't think he was capable of bending down to get the ball. And if he was, he probably wouldn't have been capable of getting back up.

the first in gets the pin was taught to me early by my grandfather. it's really an extension of "ready golf". If you're in.... what else are you doing? i mean really. But yea, the ol' fish it out with the putter head is painful to watch.

Flagging down the drink girl? Rushing to the restroom?

I was taught to play on sand greens, so when I was learning, the etiquette I was taught was to get ready to rake once you holed out. On that same token, though, nothing is more annoying than to get done raking the green to find that no one had put the pin in the hole.

Haha, if you're flagging down the drink girl or rushing to the restroom that often, you've got problems.... though... one of those activities does often lead to the other.

It's usually a good bet that she's hotter than the three guys you're playing with.
