I was lucky enough to get invited to play in my clubs Teamplay Matchplay champsion for Southern California Golf Association.

The first matchup is another local club, which has won 2 of the last 3 years.

Its a cool experience learning the subtle matchplay strategy and how it makes Golf even more tricky and challenging.

Last weekend was our last practice, and shot my worse score at that course since March and I only really started in Feb, lets say it wasn't encouraging.
They didn't give up on me, and we had a special meeting/practice today, and I played much better.

This weekend is our first match. The line-ups are secret, this could be fun.
Lets see what happens.

This is 16 vs 16.

8 pairs.

In each pair, 6 points is up for grabs.
1a vs 1b
2a vs 2b
A vs B team.

Best ball for team play.

They rank team members by handicap, so our best plays your best etc.

We play the team at home, and away, and total points for home and away count towards the win or loss.

4 teams in our group.
Top 1 goes through.

32 groups across southern california, so 32 team playoff after the first round of round robin play.

We won 27-21 yesterday at home.
My pair won 5-1 but i gave up the 1 point when i should have closed them out with a 2 footer on 16.

Sounds like a lot of fun, good luck.

We have a little tourney at my home club coming up in two weeks. Two man teams, 6 holes best ball, 6 holes cpt choice, 6 holes alt shot. Net scores w/ partial handicaps.

Thanks.

I need to buy a real putter, and get some confidence.
Although my putting was not bad overall, a couple of vital putts did not drop. But then again, i got a few ones that should not have drop that did.

This week we play a links course, so OB is watching you on every tee box, I might not get to play this week, since us lower handicappers are usually errant off the tee.

I'm driving pretty well though, but I think I need to upgrade to XS or XXS, because my drives still soar higher than most peoples 8i-Pw.

This is fun though, and I'm meeting a lot of cool people.

I'll keep you guys up to date.

Just an update.
Here are some results so far

Week One - Vs The Links at Riverlakes 27-21
Week Two - @ The Links at Riverlakes 36-12
Week Three - Vs Sundale Country Club 39-9 (I sat this one out)

So far we're 3-0.
3 weeks to go... then playoffs.

I got some bad news this week.

Our team has been disqualified from the Teamplay event.

That sucks ass... I always post my best scores, even when/if I shouldn't maybe, but I'm improving and I want to show it, and we're DQ'ed.

I was supposed to play this weekend, and we looked like we were going to make the playoffs, but I guess we're just screwed.

I wonder if that DQ hurts me for being a part of the team or what... i know some people fudge their scores, but just sucks to be part of a team DQed for it.

Rough.

Win if you can, lose if you must, but always cheat? Shocked

I assumed sandbagging... I guess I should confirm... but I have heard of other teams being DQed for it in the past, and just assumed that would be it.

Its one of those topics everyone always talks about... and everyone accuses everyone of doing it.

Looking back at the results, all of the results have "Different" scores than we actually had.
They have just recently changed, so I'm not sure if someone updated scores after a deadline, or god knows what.

I'm calling for an explanation, but just sucks... it was fun, even though I wasn't playing well... I like the competition, and matchplay doesn't come around all too often around here.
