Regarding legitimacy of a "Hole in ONE" I believe it is defined as a shot from the tee to the hole during an 18 hole round of golf with the first shot.. Not practice , not with a mulligan, not on a practice range (I've had several of those)If you shoot a bucket of balls at a practice range, some are bound to go in.

Yeah...the "1" has to go on a scorecard for it to mean anything.

I damn near aced number 1, which is a 330 yard par 4, at my home course yesterday. Problem is, I was teeing up from number three when it happened. Second time I've done that, but I missed the putt this time. I'm sorry, but if I put a shot three feet from the hole from 230, I'm going to go try to sink the putt whether it's on the correct green or not.
