There was a point where I was golfing almost daily. At least 3-4 times a week. That was really only made possible thanks to the $8 twilight rates at the local course, back in Pittsburg KS.

Fast forward two years.

I've now been in San Diego CA for two years, and have golfed a total of ZERO times. Mostly because of the cost, but also a big part because I simply don't have the ability I think I need to have to warrant paying that kind of money. Spending $40+ to lose half a dozen balls isn't my idea of money well spent.

I considered lessons, since I'd really like to at least be able to play with co-workers without making a complete fool of myself, but again the issue of cost of practice rounds.

So, things have changed as of last week. My wife and I are moving into a home where our backyard is literally the 3rd green of the Twin Oaks GC in San Marcos. Here's the view from our back deck:

They have a membership - $350/year, which includes 5 free rounds, and heavy discounts on green fees, the driving range, etc. So... it's time to get back into this great sport.

I'm not sure where to even begin. Tempted to get some new golf shoes to get me raring to go... Anyone else play at this course?

That's not a half bad idea! I'll look into that once we've settled in a bit!

I'm guessing that's not San Marcos Texas.

Looks like a nice setup you got there. I love north county San Diego. I went to college in La Jolla and I miss it all the time.

Big time stuff. I was watching Golf Channel " Live from the Masters" and low and behold your community is running an ad about your community. Homes look beautiful and golf course shots are spectacular. Let us know about your first round. Play graet.
