Went for first time to test out drivers on a launch monitor today at Roger Dunn, a huge golf megastore in So Cal where they have 8 open hitting bays with FlightScope monitors.

First thing I learned was that I'm giving up a lot of distance with a less than optimal stance & tee setup since I've been playing the ball an inch or two inside of my left heel and teeing it a fair bit too low, apparently. My launch angle often times was less than 5* on what I would normally characterize as my 'ok' hit. Once the ball was teed higher and more forward, the results were shockingly different. Something to work on.

I hit my own club a few times and then tried some others out. I really liked the look and feel of the TM RBZ Tour TP (9*, adjusted to 9.75*), shafted with an Ozik HD6 s-flex.

Yeah, I know, it's called Rocketballz and has lime green trim, but the thing just felt solid. Additionally, I liked the shape of the clubhead as my current club is from the 'square' generation and looks quite unwieldy in comparison. The white paint vs. dark clubface was actually quite helpful with alignment. Thirdly, the face setup is not closed like with my current driver and so on my better hits, was not drawing the ball so pronouncedly.

Anyhow, just my 2c. I'm going to try some other heads in the coming weeks and then probably get a proper fitting with one of the OEM's there. In addition to the store's 8 hitting bays, they actually have official fitting centers from the 5 biggest OEM's: Callaway, TaylorMade, Cleveland/Srixon, Titleist & Ping.
