Is it possible to use a hybrid in place of the Driver in terms of accuracy when distance is not a strength?

I can hit my irons decently. I am having trouble being consistent with the Driver. I am half exploring the idea of using a hybrid to help keep the line in the fairway. As for the distance I am not a long hitter anyway.

Is it Possible?

Im not sure I understand what you are asking "is possible", but if you are saying can you ditch your driver for a Hybrid, of course you can!

I actually dumped my driver two years ago for 2 months and just stuck with my 3 hybrid that I can smash straight 210yds. I did it to build confidence and let myself rethink my driver.

Then, after a year of using my driver again and fighting a slice, I have sold the driver and replaced it with the ROCKETBALLZ fairway wood. I'm hitting this about 240yds (as much as my driver did), much straighter, and have felt great about it.

Dont let anyone tell you how you have to play. Play how you feel comfortable for you.

I have played a fe rounds where i have played 3H from the tee, or 4 iron from the tee on courses that are not "CRAZY" long.

It was a really good experience.
Not only was it good practive with those clubs, it made me use a different set of clubs for the approach.

Sometimes, you need to put a club on timeout Smile
Try something, and see how it goes.
Watching the US open, they're using all sorts off the tee, Michkelson with a 4w on 2, Tiger with a 3iron on 2, go for it.

Dont be afraid to try things. Borrow someones driver for a trip to the range and a round, sometimes you just need a change.

Good luck, have fun with it.
Dont be hard on yourself, the game is hard enough already without you making it tougher than it is.

I'm of a different mentality, but of course the driver is my best club. I say "don't give up". I tried to ditch the driver for a couple of rounds in the recent past, but I just couldn't do it. I'd hit an awesome 5W shot and find myself using my 5w again on my second shot and still coming up short.

Sure, play a round or two without it if you just can't hit it, but don't give up on it. A round of golf, in my opinion, is a lot more fun when all of the approaches are short.

Not giving up completely. I am actually looking into an hour or so with a local pro to see if we can tune up my driver skills. Some how I think I could be just that close and just don't know it.

Agree with BryanK. The driver is a crucial club especially if you are in this for the long haul. On most courses there is at least a couple holes that just beg for driver.

It might be a tough club to hit straight at times but IMO it should not be avoided for this reason. If you can square the driver you can square any club.

And let's face it feels good to bash one out there as far as the rules and equipment allow.

yeah, I can't deny that when I hit a good drive that just feels good to see it fly.

This could be a good time to win the addict give away and put a new Driver in my hands. Could be just what the Doctor ordered.. "Hint...Hint..."

I didn't intend my advice to have you drop the driver completely.

Playing some other clubs sometimes will lets you RELAX about the driver and just play... and it lets you hone other clubs and shots you might not normally play.

I think borrowing a driver from a friend, or getting a demo driver for the range and 18 can be a big eye opener too. You can't adjust in just a few shots to a dramatically different driver, so give it a real chance.

I did that a couple of times, as I moved my way up the driver ranks. And I hit PLENTY of drivers at dicks, sports authority etc, they make their money on the sale, make use of their equipment and their time, its their job to help you and let you try things out.

Good luck Smile
