Let me paint the picture for you. IÆm playing at Hershey Links this morning on a light rainy day. I was on the 16 hole. A par five that is cut in half by a ravine that drops 30 ft. I hit the drive over the ravine (I was actually pretty impressed with the drive) and took the golf cart down the hill following the cart path. The cart path was curving around the bend when I lost control of the cart. I spun 360 degrees twice falling over the ledge. The drop at this point was at least 15 feet. I bailed out of the cart falling before the drop while the cart hit a tree root and dangled on the edge. My heart was pounding. A grounds keeper on the next hole and came over to see if I was alright. Still in shock, I helped him get the cart back on the cart path. At first I was embarrassed, but he told me it happens all the time on this hole. Now thinking about it, IÆm a little pissed. I could have seriously been hurt or even broken my neck if I did not bail out.
The purpose of this post it to give anyone playing there a heads up and if it were you would you be embarrassed or pissed?

Holy crap. Glad you're alright. Quick thinking bailing out.

Taylor, your course, The Bluffs on Thompson Creek, same thing, Guy rolls the cart going down a steep hill, kills his partner a few years ago. Do you know what hole that was?

Yeah, it was the signature hole. #17. Before they had governors on the carts.

I almost drove into a river last year. It was dusk on a late summer night. I was out by myself in a cart trying to finish 18 before dark. I was probably the only one on the back nine. On the par 5 14th hole... about 100 yds from the pin, the hole drops about 40 ft down to the green. There's a 50' wide river on the right side of the fairway -- and it flows pretty fast. My ball was lying 60 yds from the pin very close to the river. It had rained a few hours before, so the grass was very wet. Rather than drive straight down the slope toward the green and then circle back to my ball, I turned right and went down the slope directly towards the river. Well when I hit the brakes, they locked and had no grab on the wet grass. I actually picked up speed because of the steepness of the slope. I then yanked the steering wheel to the left and this put me into a spin. After a harrowing 360 the cart stopped about 12 feet from the river, where the slope flattened out. Whew. If I had gone in no one would have seen me since #14 is at the very far back of the course. :-0

wow...out here in N. Calif, on the steep cart paths they have speed bumps all the way down...probably wouldn't help too much if the asphalt was slick but I'm sure they'd slow the cart down a little.....years ago, while sitting in his cart waiting for the green to clear, a tree limb broke off above him crushing him and the cart. Can't think of any other fatalities on the golf courses out here. Almost had my drunk a$$ playing partner roll our cart once but I'm sure that's happened to everyone...glad you're ok

When your cart does a 360 and you can not control it, it actual feels like being in a automobile accident. I never realized this until actually living it. I feel your pain Single
