In addition to tracking # of putts, it would be interesting and helpful over the long term to track the length of putts which give you the most trouble. I'd like to be able to enter the length of the first putt on every green, and compare it to my 1, 2, and 3 putt % to have valid data of whether I need to improve more on aiming/stroke or lagging. Thank you.

I like that idea, entering the length of the first putt, in other words, the distance from the hole, once on the green. Some people like the idea of adding the length of the putts that drop. In most cases it's the second putt. Two boxes, labeled 1st and last putt would satisfy most folks. For the first time yesterday, I started tracking putting distance, and found that with over 350 feet of putts and 34 attempts, 14 were less than 1 foot. I don't know what it means yet, that was only one game.

Not a bad idea. I like the idea of tracking first and last putts. I'm working on a stat sheet to separate putts into 20'>, 10-19', 4-9' and 4'<.
That way I know where my putting is strongest/weakest.
I need to compete with the BFC and any other formula that's out there.

Out of curiosity, how do most people normally calculate the distance of putts? I try pacing them off, but am never confident that it's accurate. I just got a GPS, but haven't used it and I assume that it is not much help with such short distances. Anyone have suggestions on the best way to measure putts?

I pace mine off sometimes. Usually when pulling the pin I will count my steps either on the way to or from the pin. For me, 4 steps is 10 feet.

I'm using the scorecard boxes labeled "length of drive" to enter "length of first putt". I hope we can get a column to enter putting distance soon. Measuring it is really simple and unobtrusive also. Like Dave said, just count your steps to or from the hole. A step is about 3 feet. And for example on my scorecard I enter(25) or (25 2) or (25 2 1)depending on whether it is a 1,2,or 3 putt.
