Sadly, golf in Mexico City is still very elitist. It is a sad fact because this valley has great golf weather (no issues playing year round) and some truly amazing courses. Golf will never catch on here unless this changes.

If for some odd reason an oobgolf memebr visits Mexico City and needs some help finding a place to play, feel free to drop me a line.

I was in Mexico City recently, however it wasn't a pleasant trip, because It was in the middle of the night, to Jet Ambulance a baby girl back up here to the burn center in Galveston Texas. A candle had fallen in the crib and she was injured. Hopefully I can get back down there sometime, I'll look you up for some golf. You must have some great courses in those mountains.

Mexico might change if they can get a popular player in the PGA. Ochoa, I would guess is almost a national hero there, but an LPGA player probably can't change the old-think there.

They need an Arnold Palmer, a Watson, or a Tiger to get everyone excited to try golf.

Agree Farm_K, Colombia has Camillo Villegas and he seems to be creating new interest amongst the youngsters there. But I think there is a stronger need to make the courses more accesible. If a kid wanted to play today, there would be almost no options other than pony up thousnad to join a club.

I am sure some of the clubs are stuggling financially. I would hope they embrace a new business model (convert to public courses) rather than just go belly up.

Indeed Merlin, the courses are very nice and the ball flies forever!
