Piper Glen is one of the better courses in town. It's challenging and plays decently long. It also has a few hills which can be rare in central IL. I would recommend playing it if you are going to play anywhere in spfld.

The Rail is also a great course. It was host of an LPGA event up until about 2 years ago(moved to a private course in town). The Rail is actually in Sherman but it's only 15 minutes from Springfield. I can't find it on the course finder for some reason. The condition of the course is usually a little better than Piper Glen.

There is also a course Lincoln Greens which is a city run course. I think it's a good layout that isn't too challenging but isn't unfair either. If you play a third course in town I would play this one.

Have fun and don't forget to try a horseshoe, just about every restaurant in town serves them :)
