Hey Buddy,

Hope you can make it up to golf soon. Ray is killing it, hitting the ball good with good putting. Must be the putter.

Congrats Stephen! What is the prize you won? I didn't know anything about it; I rarely get on here unless somebody sends me a message. I don't check out the home page at all. It's good to hear you've been cleared to go back to work. Golf will soon follow. Keep up the rehab.
5/4/12

Bhowelett says:
Aw, man. I hate to hear that. I know you'll miss playing. Hopefully though, your back will be as strong as ever when you heal and will be back to playing golf; and the best golf of your life. I hope to see you posting some scores soon. Later, Brion.

Nope, ours are either Tuesday or Wednesday.

mfritts says:
No, I didn't get selected either, but one of my foursome did for a practice round, so he picked up the 8 tickets. Ought to be a blast. As for those TH/F tickets, too bad he didn't get them - definatelty would have been able to sell them for at least face $.
10/18/11

mfritts says:
I'll have to check that one out - thanks for the tip!

mfritts says:
My regular foursome... we all put in for Ryder Cup tickets when they opened the drawing, which was last year I think!

Hammond, IN is just across the border south of Chicago, so I'm a good 100 miles north and west.

mfritts says:
Not really, but may travel there for business this coming year. I've slowed the back stroke down with my putter and has improved my putting imensely. Weakest part of my game now is my approach to the green. It's an interesting game!
6/11/11

Bhowelett says:
You still have the Cleveland driver? Looks like you have new fairway woods too. You get a good deal on them?
5/9/11

mfritts says:
Also, my set up for the blade putter is pretty much toes in alignment to the hole, very squared up, ball just forward of center a few inches. I choke down on the shorter putts.
11/8/10

mfritts says:
Thanks for the comment Stephen. This course Swan Hills isn't the toughest around, but it's fun to play and I generally score fairly well. Greens were in great shape and my driving was on, was glad to see it back, even when I didn't hit a fairway I was only off at most maybe 5 yards. By the way, congrats on your eagle the other day. Still looking for my first eagle and first hole in one... plenty of time!

mfritts says:
Keep up the good putting - did not see that Furyk was going old school, but glad to hear it! An old golfer friend of mine said, he'd sometimes sell a club he no longer wanted, but never a putter. Would never sell an old putter.
10/19/10

mfritts says:
So how are you liking the new putter? I've been putting pretty good, just not nearly enough play time or practice time this year.
10/18/10

abisaacs86 says:
lol, well it was a pretty decent course...it did have some rough spots though. I only paid $32 for 18 holes
9/13/10

mfritts says:
Congrats on the putter... you got me thinking and since I had a gift certificate to spend I went down to Dick's and bought myself a fairway hybrid wood. Also talked to a guy after I noticed that I did not see that putter still in the rack, happens he was the same guy that talked to you. He asked if you got it! Great stuff, he gave me an online coupon for $20 after our conversation. I guess good stuff really does come back around. I hope you enjoy the putter and does some good stuff for you.

Then your in-laws must be pretty good people! My father was from Cincinnati as is my golfing buddy, so I've got a soft spot in my heart for you cincinnati'ns... and I like Ocho-cinco.
9/10/10

mfritts says:
That's great Stephen - glad to hear you found one! I like it a lot, but again I'm one of the few people I know that likes the blade putters. It's definately lighter than most of the putters out there, but I like the control. Keep me posted, I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on the putter.

mfritts says:
Dick's Sporting Goods, East State Street - that's the one, good luck!

You might try phoning this store direct... seems they still had one or two back a few months ago when I was there.

Hey Stephen, Maxfli Crossbax 1.0 putter... well, I got mine something over a year ago at Dick's Sporting Goods in Rockford, Illinois. Big fan of the blade putter and I do like the feel and weight.

I want to get my driver re-gripped. I like the wrap on my driver.
9/6/10

john.e.weiss says:
Yeah. It just feels like some much more club in my hands. It is a visual thing. The sweet spot is a little different too. I have to setup inside which almost eliminates my draw. I just need a few more rounds to adjust to it. When I hit it, I really hit it though. I hit two drives today well over 300.
BTW - Thanks for talking me back into my old putter.
9/6/10

john.e.weiss says:
I hit it OK. Still adjusting. I had one penalty stroke with driver. The others were poor club selection on approach shots.

phvanvle says:
797 fairly flat on the front nine, greens are in pretty good shape. You should enjoy it.

Bhowelett says:
I'd take an 89 at CT any day; I'd even give up my 2 birdies to be in the 80's. What good is it to have a couple birdies when I had a 10 and an 8?

If you know what my problem is let me know; I'm frustrated with my game.

I love how you hit your irons; I noticed yesterday how right before you swing an iron, you move your hands forward and getting great contact and distance. I think I'm going to have to try that; I'm more hitting up on the ball rather than down like I'm supposed to.
8/23/10

Bhowelett says:
Hey, I just realized I've been spelling your name wrong. Sorry Stephen.

phvanvle says:
The layout at colonial pines is not bad, but when we played it earlier this season, it was in pretty bad shape and the way mother nature has been on golf course in the area I can only guess what the course looks like. then again, for $20 you might want to take a chance. Most of the course is wide open, not much shade, take a towel you can keep wet. Good luck

Bhowelett says:
You may not like Elks Run but I do; it's currently my favorite.

I haven't played The Vineyard or Aston Oaks so I really don't have a lot to compare it to. But I saw where Golfweek named Elks Run the 10th best public course in Ohio.
8/19/10

Bhowelett says:
Hey Steven, if you're off work tomorrow and want to play some golf, check this out; you can play Elks Run for $30. That'd be awesome.

Bhowelett says:
You may think your game is going downhill but I'd take your scores. At least you are consistently scoring in the mid to upper 80's. I can shoot an 85 one round and the very next shoot a 100. That's frustrating.

Oh by the way, I didn't get your PM until this morning. The next time you are looking to play and need somebody to go, give me a call or text at 937-217-2480.

I bet you were rained out on Saturday weren't you?
6/14/10

Bhowelett says:
Oh by the way, what's it cost to play Deer Track on Saturday morning? $39?
6/4/10

Bhowelett says:
You love that course don't you. I wish I was playing. Can't tomorrow though; the wife and I are having a yard sale in attempt to make some money for our trip to Orlando later this month.

Play solid golf again and let's see you get into the 70's this time. Have a good round.
6/4/10

Bhowelett says:
I just checked out the Deer Track website; 14 out of the 18 holes have water; with an island green on one hole. That's intimidating to me. Is there really that much water? You managed to stay dry; that's quite an accomplishment.
6/1/10

Bhowelett says:
How's the course looking this year? Do they have all the bunkers back into play now? The bunker issue was the only gripe I had with the course last year.

Bhowelett says:
Awesome score Sunday. Is this your best score at Cedar Trace?

ltc1978 says:
You ready for the league this year. Casey and I are going to dominate!
3/26/10

Bhowelett says:
Yeah, I'm with you; I'm ready to get out and play. It looks like with all the precip we've had this winter that we will be limited to the driving range for awhile; unfortunately. I don't think the courses will be dry enough to play on for a few weeks at least. Let's hope we don't have a wet spring.

Going to Golf Galaxy and hitting in the simulator really gets me in the mood to play. That's the only swinging I've done this winter.
2/24/10

Bhowelett says:
I'm glad you guys got to play; sounds like I should've made the trip.

Yeah, I'm definitely interested in the Srixons. Let's try to get together and play next week.
9/24/09

Bhowelett says:
U guys play last night? I wanted to play. But I also didn't want to make the drive and get rained out.

Definitely let me know if u guys are playing next Wednesday; as long as it's not raining I'm gonna play.
9/24/09

Bhowelett says:
Looks like rain on Wednesday. You guys playing the front or back 9?
9/22/09

Bhowelett says:
I'd like to try Srixon's but I really like to only spend about a $1 per ball.

The Snake Eyes balls have spoiled me because I really like the feel and they only cost me about $.50 per ball. Unfortunately, Golfsmith no longer sells them so I need to find a good, cheap replacement.

I thought about buying some quality balls through lostgolfballs.com. It seems they have some good deals on practically new balls. You ever try buying used balls?

By the way, if you want some good deals at Elks Run, go to their website and check out their "Last Minute Specials".
7/16/09

Bhowelett says:
Elks Run is my favorite. I haven't played a lot of courses but I think the fairways at Elks Run are the best I've ever played; it's like hitting from carpet. At least that's how it was when I played there last year; I hope the maintenance personnel are doing as good of a job as they were last year.

I also like the layout of Elks Run better than any other course as well; I love the elevated tee boxes.

There are some difficult holes on that course, i.e. #14, #17 if your playing from the blue tees. Also, you want to do whatever you can to make sure you stay in the fairway; if you stray into the tall grass the best shot is just to punch back out into the fairway.

It's a great course and I highly recommend it.
7/16/09

Bhowelett says:
I'm so glad they are better maintaining the course now.

I completely agree with you; Cedar Trace is difficult. I feel it should have a higher rating and slope than it does.

Out of all the Cincy area courses, which one is your favorite?
7/16/09

Bhowelett says:
Cedar Trace has some fun holes; I especially like the elevated par 3's.

On the other hand, I was disappointed to see so many bunkers be deserted; they might as well fill them in with sod. Are they any better now than they were at the end of May?

The course is a good value though, so I cannot expect it to be as pristine as some other area courses.
7/16/09

Bhowelett says:
I know what you mean about everything going left into the trees on #15.

Yeah, I would say you got a skin on that hole; you deserve one for that birdie.
7/16/09

woodruca says:
Much better. Shot a 49, but that was with three 3 putts and three penalty strokes! So, much better than the first nine
7/16/09

woodruca says:
I will be there!
