Matt: I drove the ball to a par three green and lost it in the rough. My playing partner encouraged me to drop a ball and take a penalty, which I did. Walking off the green I found my ball and my partner said "play it." Later he questioned the legality of me playing that ball. What do the rules say? 8/20/11
